There are two types of people in the world: those that love Christmas commercials and those that don’t.
I’ve always been a sucker for all things Christmas, including ads, and I could watch them for hours. Actually, I just did! Here are eleven great Christmas spots.
There are several you may remember fondly, and one or two you might be seeing for the first time. (more…)

It’s Christmas time, and there’s no need to stick to your standard company logo. At Christmas time, we let web designers have a bit of fun, and in our world of brand identity, we can spread a smile of joy.
But say a prayer; pray for all the other ones: all those weary web travelers who have woken up and jumped into their regular browsing routine.
If it weren’t for all the Christmas-themed logos, would they know it’s Christmas time at all? (more…)

Well here it is, depressing Christmas. Nobody’s having fun and Alan Carr just shot himself while doing Channel 4’s alternative Queen’s speech. Still, it could always be worse, you could be spending Chrimbo with any one of this lot.

Who’s up for knitting some quirky sweaters? Who’s up for playing a mediocre game of charades? Who’s up for dressing up in a badger costume? That’s right, you’re in for one overrated, out of date Christmas, my friend. (more…)

Following on from Keith’s PS3 festive top 10 comes the Xbox 360 list. Remember these are suggestions on what to buy this Christmas so the list is mainly focused on recent-ish releases. Anyway, let’s go. In no particular order these are the Gamesblog Top 10 Xbox 360 games to buy this Christmas…
Fifa 10 / PES 2010
Ah, the great football game debate. I really couldn’t choose between them and which ever one you decide on your footy-loving 360 owner should be happy. Having said that there are some differences. Fifa is slower, more methodical and more realistic. It also has all the right teams and players, even if the likenesses are still scarily off at times. PES has better player likenesses and animations but more importantly plays a faster more fluid game on the pitch. Fifa has more online options, PES has more exciting goalmouth scrambles. I’d still go with PES if I really had to choose but this one is too close to call. (more…)
The one-of-a-kind tree decoration is made of 18 carat white gold and is plastered with over one and half thousand stunning diamonds.
It is surrounded by two incredible rings featuring 188 red rubies and took all year to design and make.
The bauble is being unveiled tomorrow night, but is currently being kept under lock and key in Titchfield, Hampshire.
It is so valuable it is being kept in a steel-framed case surrounded by 6mm thick laminated glass.
The box is surrounded by a high tech microwave bubble, which sounds if it is broken, and even has an extra internal alarm which fills the shop with smoke if it goes off.
It was dreamt up by Mark Hussey, 38, the owner of 30-year-old family business Hallmark Jewellers.
He said: “It was never about the value of the bauble, we just wanted to do something special for Christmas.
“It was more about making something unique, but as we researched other amazing baubles we discovered the most expensive one was £26,874. (more…)

As Thanksgiving nears many may notice the holiday decorations going up at malls, shopping centers, and around neighborhoods everywhere. And with that comes thoughts of gift exchanges, Secret Santas, and Yankee swaps sweeping over the office cubicles, playgroups, and book clubs.
Gone are the days of yore when the person in charge of the said gift exchange had to keep meticulous records and notes carefully hidden from all the participants. Just like Fantasy Football, Secret Santas can now be organized online, too.
Gift exchanges used to be purely for fun, but now those pinching their pennies are using the Secret Santa as a way to save money. Rather than get a gift for everyone in your family, which for some people can be in the double digits, a gift exchange retains the spirit of giving on a much smaller scale. An added bonus? If you only have one person to shop for and therefore spend less overall, you can spend more time and thought on the actual gift itself.
With so many in need around the world, another great way to leverage the Secret Santa concept while giving back is to donate money to a charity in the gift recipient’s name. But don’t just pick a random charity, think about the gift recipient’s interests and passions and let that guide your charity choice. (more…)
